Music was always present in Chabrelle's life. From singing duets with her mother in church, to learning every song she could from any movie, cartoon, or musical she watched, to singing choir in school, Chabrelle had a gift for melody. With an ear for music and deep interest in epic storytelling, one might think she had always wanted to be a performer. As it happens, it wasn't until her junior year at The Philadelphia High School of the Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA) that she decided she wanted to pursue a classical career. From that day on, Chabrelle's career in opera began.

Soprano and educator, Chabrelle D. Williams' mission as an artist is to tell a story or guide others to creatively tell their own. Most recently, she reprised her role as Claudette Colvin in the orchestral workshop of She Who Dared by Jasmine Barnes and Deborah D.E.E.P. Mouton with American Lyric Theater. Chabrelle is also recent Barrymore award winner for her performance as Mama Euralie with The Arden Theatre Company's production of Once on this Island by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty. Currently, she is teaching opera to Philly’s finest 4th Graders and is working with the lovely community of Broad Street Love for Opera Philadelphia. This Fall, Chabrelle is excited to make her Kentucky Opera Debut as The Mother in their production of Amahl and the Night Visitors.

Chabrelle’s journey in the world of opera has brought her to several stages both in America and abroad. This past season, she not only made several operatic/concert debuts, but she also dived into the world of musical theater. Highlights from the season include: her soloist debut with the Louisiana Philharmonic, and her New Orleans Opera debut as Girlfriend #1/Nurse in their production of Blue by Jeanine Tesori and Tazwell Thompson, her role debut as Winifred Banks.

In past seasons, Chabrelle as had the honor of premiering and performing in remarkable works and concerts, some of which include: her Carnegie Hall debut as the soprano soloist in Nathaniel Dett's The Ordering of Moses with her alma mater Oberlin Conservatory of Music, her Lincoln Center Theatre debut as Esther Mills in the world premiere of Intimate Apparel by Lynn Nottage and Ricky Ian Gordon, her Boston Lyric Opera Debut as Milica in their Opera America award winning film Svadba by Ana sokolovic and directed by Shura Baryshnikov.

Throughout her journey, Chabrelle has not only premiered several works, but also been the pioneer for a couple training programs. She started the Artist Diploma program at Rice University and was the first to graduate of its program. Chabrelle also co-created the Holland Community Opera Fellowship at Opera Omaha where she used her experience as an artist and entrepreneur to creatively engage with various youth and adult organizations from diverse backgrounds in the Omaha community.

In 2025, Chabrelle looks forward to returning to Kentucky Opera for their production of This Little Light of Mine by Chandler Carter and Diana Solomon-Glover and her role and house debut with People’s Light as Audrey II in their production of Little Shop of Horrors by Alan Menken and Howards Ashman!
